Tonight turned out to be a pretty good night. We decided to check out Niagara Falls, which is something I haven’t done in at least two years. It was even more tacky than I remembered in the past. The souvenir shops, wax museums, and carnival atmosphere of Clifton Hill was a sensory barrage. We had dinner in a cheesy Italian restaurant right out of the 1970’s called Mama Mia. It was everything a stereotypical Italian restaurant should be, right down to the overcooked pasta and red and white checkered tablecloths. The area surrounding the Falls was in stark contrast. There were manicured gardens and groomed paths. The Niagara Parks Commission keeps a variety of interesting trees in the parkland surrounding the walking paths along the Niagara Gorge. It was nice to watch the huge spotlights illuminating the Falls change color slowly. As darkness fell, there was a fireworks show over the Falls. I’m glad we brought the camera. I tried out some long exposure stuff with the image stabilized lens. I think the results turned out kinda cool.

After getting home from the Falls, we decided to watch The Girl Next Door. It was actually much better than I expected (which isn’t saying much, really). The girl was cute, and the interaction between the three friends was hilarious. The porn producer character as awesome too. Overall, a stupid, but fun movie. 🙂
