I seem to have gotten over my craving for travel, for the time being anyway. I guess I’ve only been home for a week or so, but I consider it a good sign that I’ve unpacked my suitcase and put my stuff away. It’s healthy anyway.

My attention has turned towards home renovations. There are a couple of things I want to do. First of all, I want to add some more lighting to the bathroom. The lighting kind of sucks in there, especially for people needing to do makeup for photo shoots. There’s only a minimal light above the mirror, with only one small lightbulb in it. I would like to replace it with a daylight-balanced light for accurate color, but I’ll probably end up settling for a decent fixture with two or three bulbs. I’d also like to add some more recessed halogen lighting in the ceiling. There’s one nice halogen light above the laundry machines, but there should be at least one or two more inside the washroom. I can replace the light above the mirror myself, but I’m a bit chicken about adding the halogen lights. I might hire someone to take care of that for me. I wish I knew a good electrician who isn’t going to rip me off.

The other thing I want to do is to tile my window sills. They’re pretty big, and right now they’re made of drywall stuff and painted like the walls. The problem is that water gets on them and the paint gets damaged. Tiles would be so cool. I am probably going to buy a bunch of tiles and smash them, then make a mosaic of some kind. The guy at the hardware store gave me some tips and a brochure about how to do it. I can’t wait to try this out, but I need a bit of inspiration too…
