When I was living in my much smaller apartment, I developed the habit of coming home, sitting down at the computer and taking off my watch. I’d put it on the desk beside the keyboard. It was more comfortable to type without the watch on. I eventually started doing this without thinking. It was fine, because I’d just grab the watch on my way out the door in the morning. My computer was about three steps from the door.
Now that I’ve moved, I still have the same habit. But, now I’m constantly forgetting my watch because my computer desk is upstairs, and not near the door at all. I’m going to have to break the habit. It doesn’t seem like a big thing, but when stuff becomes automatic, it’s hard to change. Certain changes come out of necessity. What other habits will I have to break because of new circumstances? What new ones will form? Life can be so interesting when you pay attention to the details.
You must buy an enormous box of watches and leave it by the door! Hooray!
i do the same thing – leave my watch on my desk near the computer. But my desk is like a foot from my bed, and it’s where I eat my breakfast..so very easy to grab watch again 🙂
you should put a little watch hook near the door! then when you get home, take of the watch and hang it on the hook. It would be like a key hook, on for a watch!
i shall combine the two solutions. i’ll hang an enormous box of watches on a hook by the door! 😀
omg! i do the same thing…but see, i can’t go anywhere without my watch…so when i get off the computer, i can feel that something’s missin’ on my hand:) hehe
p.s. your apartment looks really cool 😀
all you need to do is leave the watch downstairs 21 times in a row 😉
maha: i know the feeling. my watch is so heavy that my left arm doesn’t feel right without it.
hesi: you’re so right!
mmm, habits. i move my room around every month, so no habits form. but come to think of that i’ve come to rely on the cupboard near the front door quite a bit.
hmmm… cupboard near front door. now THAT’S a good idea. 🙂
yes! 2 drawers/person to keep (for me) batteries for my mp3 player ( i always run out in last possible second), dog hair cleaning roller thingie, dog leash
