Olya’s got me thinking about bettas as pets. It does sound appealing. They’re not as expensive as other fish, mainly because they only require a very small enclosure. Changing the water is probably not too difficult either, since there’s less of it. But, the large aquarium does appeal to me. I kind of want to have multiple fish too. Apparently it’s not such a good idea to have more than one betta together in a tank. They don’t call them Siamese fighting fish for nothing. 😀 Also, having bettas means I will have to handle some pretty yucky stuff, like frozen blood worms and brine shrimp. On the other hand, as Olya has pointed out, bettas are pretty models for photography. This is going to require some pondering…
Betta testing

all of that went way over my head. Except the frozen blodo worms which is yuky especially without the context, so all i have to tell you is that I want a kitty. one of those short haired ones.
the “frozen bloodwarms” are a dry shavings of something … dry in a plastic can… its nothing disgusting, TRUST me
yeah, betta’s aren’t co hospitable… but they are so much less hassle that for me its worth it 😉
you might also want to buy a tiny net (1.49) for moving the betta when changing water.
water change time is about 5 minutes. when my betta was sick i did it like 10 times a day so it became a routine but doing it once a week is no problem at all.
you could always get a kitten! *laughs*
kitties are cute, but they make me sneeze 🙁
‘one of those short haired ones’ made me laugh for some reason ^^; (possibly because there’s like 2 dozen different kinds of the short haired ones 😉 )
I find multi fished tanks funnest to watch, but single fish can be cool too. My friend has one fish in a little mini tank and it’s kind of cute somehow…and you’d get to say “oops, i gotta get home and give Stumpy some blood worms!” (or replace stumpy with name of fish…)
