It’s done. I woke up this morning, not expecting today to be any different from the norm, but on an impulse I booked a flight. It took me about 45 minutes to make the decision to go and then book the flight. My decision-making process is scary sometimes.

So there it is. I’m going to Thailand. For 25 days. It kind of freaks me out. February 1 also seems very far off, even though I know it’s not. The good thing is that I get to skip February in Hamilton, which is a pretty rotten time to be in Hamilton. I’ll be traveling by myself, for the most part. I’ll meet up with Tan for a week or so in the south. I’m going to probably spend a lot of time just hiking around with a backpack on my back. I’ll try to take as little as possible with me. I’m going to also do as little planning as possible. I will do some basic research on places to stay and stuff. But mostly I’m going to wing it. I think I’ll get my scuba certification while I’m there too. Apparently it only takes four full days there, and you get your international certification. Here, it would take a month of weekends, and I’d have to take the course in a swimming pool. Tropical beaches and coral reefs? Yes please!
