Very busy weekend ahead. I have a Big in Japan rehearsal today in Toronto. It will be my first improv since the festival. I’ve been missing it a lot. After that, I’m coming back to Hamilton. I’m going out for dinner with a friend, then going to a photography exhibition opening, then a “cocktail chic” party, whatever that is. Should be fun though. Tomorrow I have another gallery opening to go to, and then a Big in Japan show at night. That is my weekend in a nutshell. I’m hoping I’ll have time to continue my baseball season on the XBox. I’m pathetically addicted to it. My Blue Jays have 12 wins and 2 losses right now.
See you on the other side!
“An invitation came across my desk for the opening reception of the new Stephan Pyles restaurant called … wait for it … Stephan Pyles. Attire for the party: “cocktail chic.” That’s one of those code-phrase descriptions that impute much but with a wispy halo of ambiguity, like “cocktail attire” or “black-tie optional.”
For men, I take “cocktail chic” to mean jacket required — without a doubt, jacket required. Not expensive-casual with the shirttail out. Further, I’m taking the “chic” to imply designer lines.”
