I was at the office here until 11:30pm configuring a new server to replace my old one, which has become quite unreliable lately. It’s my last night in Montreal before heading home, so I felt it was worth the effort to stay here late and get it set up before leaving for Hamilton. Anyway, it’s plugged in now and seems to be running smoothly. Fingers crossed!
New server

wait so… your server is in Montreal? that would sorta finally make sense a little bit
ah at least all the work didn’t go in vain 🙂
You and your damned servers!
Tell us more! Tell us more! mmm servers.
hey hugh! the new server is waaaaay overpowered for my needs. it’s an athlon64 x2 2GHz with 2GB of DDR2 memory and 250GB of hard drive space. it’s running redhat fedora core 8. i’m hosting web, sql and email for about 5 domains. probably the biggest drain on this server is spamassassin.
It ‘sounds’ like overkill, but I think you would be hard pressed to find anything less powerful than that now a days. 🙂
true… i could have saved about $50 by going with a celeron and a smaller hard drive, but it didn’t seem worth it if this thing lasts 5 years like it’s supposed to!
