I had 12 hours of sleep last night. I came home from work at about 6:30 and just hit my bed like a ton of bricks. I woke up at 6:30 this morning feeling like a new man. I guess all the everything in the past few months finally caught up to me. Now I’m ready to do it again!
In other news, I had long appointment with the arthroscopic knee surgeon a couple of days ago. He was very brisk, and sent me off on errands to get new x-rays done, and chastised me for not having disability insurance. Anyway, I’ll probably have the surgery in the winter. They’ll take two of my hamstring ligaments and use them to replace my torn anterior cruciate ligament by drilling, screwing, slicing, threading, and other uncomfortable verbs. I’ll be out of commission for about six weeks while I recover, and I’ll need a lot of physiotherapy. I’m starting to wonder if it’s all worth it. In the meantime, I’m to ride a bike 30 minutes per day to strengthen my hamstrings.
sucks about the op, how did you injure it in the first place??
when i worked nights i would regularly get a good 12-14 hours sleep after my last night at work,
i would finish at 8am then stay up for as long as possible, usually going to bed at about 5pm, getting up at 6-7am the next day,
i fely so refreshed it was unbelievable,
now i just get the normal 8 hours,
hey paul. i hurt my knee in january skiing. here’s a blog about it. i enjoy your art, by the way. jester is a very cool piece. it reminds me of macro photography! 😛
damn, that sounded like it hurt a bit,
at least the view was nice,
i’m glad you like my work,
i’ve been busy with comissions at the moment so i havent been able to do any personal work for a while,
jester is one of my fav’s too, and it went to a very nice lady i used to work with, so i was pleased it went to a good home,
you’ve better get on your bike and build them hamstrings up,
i hope the op goes well, have you got a date for it yet??
nope, no date set yet. i told them i’d like to wait until after my asia trip in october, so we’re probably looking at november or december.
that’ll be a nice christmas pressie for you,
still, better than getting all the way to asia and then having problems with it,
tell me when your surgery is so i can come look after you ^_^ nurse soph!!!
if its christmas time im going to be way too tempted, its only a short flight away once im at uni!!
Sounds like the same surgery I had. I was up and driving stick shift 3 days after my surgery on my left knee (albeit with the seat WAY back and using my hips more than my knee to engage the clutch). The one MAJOR set back I had was on the 2nd morning, when I woke up.. and decided to that stretch we all do in the morning.. where we stretch our legs right out. DON’T DO THAT. I tore my weakened hamstring – which hurt more than my knee surgery.
Stock up on the frozen veggies.. and start putting weight on the knee right away – and you’ll be back in no time. If you have a stationary bike – that will help a LOT.
Only go to Physio at a hospital. My surgeon insisted on it – and I totally understand why.
I’ve got my surgery on video, if you want to borrow it.
k.
wow thanks for the great suggestions kanchan. i know you’ve already saved me the pain of ripping my hamstring by stretching in the morning. i’ll keep your advice handy when i have the surgery!
